Latvian Association for People Management Marks 20 Years of Activity

This year Latvian Association for People Management (LAPM) marks 20 years since its establishment. The LAPM celebrates its anniversary year with a series of special events and informative campaigns, which will be presented throughout the year to the society.


The LAPM was established in 1996 in order to promote personnel management in Latvia, to raise the level of expertise of personnel management specialists and to raise the prestige of HR Manager profession in the labor market, as well as to show a positive impact of effective personnel management to financial success of business. “


In 20 years the Association has developed into a solid society of professionals, where, putting together all the gained experience of our members, we can provide modern personnel management and leadership solutions as well as professionally debate with European colleagues,” says Eva Selga, Chairwoman of the Board of the Latvian Association of Personnel Management.


‘During these 20 years, purposeful and systematic work to develop personnel management specialists in the areas of professional competencies, culture and implementation of the HR novelties has been carried out, and we can all be satisfied with the current situation in personnel management in Latvia, ’ Eva Selga points out.


‘In the span of these years, personnel management as a function has changed from a “record-keeping department” with a significant responsibility for document processing to a “business partner” role, where the focus of responsibility has moved towards efficiency, meaningful work and employee involvement,’ adds the Chairwoman of the Board.


In 2016, as part of the program of anniversary events, many seminars and workshops will be organized by the LAPM across Latvia, as well as a specially-designed projects will be carries out. The first of them will take place on the 17th of March, when the well-known cross-cultural communication expert Pellegrino Riccardi (Norway) will offer a seminar on the key topic of cross cultural communication in the context of the refugee crisis in Europe.


Since 2001 the LAPM is a full member of the European Association of People Management.
